Today Google just released the Google Docs and Spreadsheets. I was amazed of the usability and simplicity of the tool.
Briefly, there are Explorer/Navigator part, which users could sort and manage their files. The new features here are the Folder management, which is nothing new in the world, but it’s handy especially if you have lot of documents.
Document part is a little bit stripped from functionalities, especially what I saw and what I am using in other web editors, but probably less functionality give more convinience of the regular user.
Spreadsheet part is also with less functionality than expected -especially compared with these guys from EditGrid.
I was nicely surpriced from the file exports features, basically users can import/export Documents and Spreadsheets in both most popular Office Suits Microsoft Office and Open Office and in fact you can store all your documentation and to share it with other users very easy.
What missing to the picture are Presentations as a type of document.
For conclusion I could say that the services from Google evolving and with Gmail, Calendar and Docs&Spreadsheets users could move their online office from the desktop to the internet.
